This collection begins to round off the running of my fingers through the songs of my past. My first release during this lockdown (who knows if there is to be more of it) comprised older tunes from approximately 5 years ago. This collection, however, is made up of songs written in what has become my last year in London, perhaps for now, perhaps for good. I have new pastures to move to, but also plenty of previous green fields I might chose to return to. This is with the exception of Hail to the Chief, the closest I’ve ever come to an overtly political song, which was written on the day of Trump’s inauguration, but I won’t pass comment. Though we are citizens within the world, it is not my country, not my president, and I am no political commentator.

You will soon hear, but I hope that I do not give a false impression of this release from the feel of the first track. It was recorded last if that matters at all. Heavy Terry Reid and Robin Trower inspiration.

I have one more batch of older songs left to put down, the love songs that I am most proud of. Melancholic, informative, revealing, triumphant, celebratory. Full of synonyms and antonyms for love. After that, it’s just new material. Fresh pastures maybe, different ones for sure. A change is as good as a rest, indeed.
